ONE DAY IN DUBLIN INCLUDING COASTAL CYCLE RIDE

Taking advantage of cheap flights with Ryanair from Birmingham Airport on a Wednesday we made Phoenix Bike Hire by 1030am. Purchasing a one day bus pass at the airport for 10 euros we used the airport bus 747 to Dublin center and then the tram on to Phoenix Park. Local rail, trams and city center buses are all included.

10 euros hire fee for the bikes gave us enough time to cycle along the River Liffey to the coast, turning left we headed to Howth Point. A good cycle path took us around the bay at Clontare and then on to St Annes Park, with Bull Island nature reserve on our right we followed the waters edge to Howth. A steep climb is rewarded with fabulous views of the bay and lighthouse. A fast downhill takes you to the lovely harbour town of Howth with fish and chips on the Quay.

Back for 3pm, a 10 minute walk to Teeling Whisky Distillery for an hours tour and some tasting, then just around the corner we headed to Guinness Storehouse for their tour followed by a well earned pint in the Gravity Bar. 360 degree views greet you of Dublin rooftops over to the coast and Wicklow Mountains. Last stop Oliver St John Gogarty’s pub in Temple Bar to listen to some Irish Folk Music before heading back to the airport. I highly recommend this as a fabulous way of spending one day in Dublin.
